About XPT/USD
Platinum demand is dominated by autocatalysts and industrial applications, so the metal tracks vehicle production and emissions regulation more closely than it tracks monetary policy.
Supply is concentrated in South Africa, which makes the price sensitive to mining disruption and to domestic electricity constraints. Spreads are wide relative to gold.
XPT/USD sits in the metals group on our board. A standard contract is 50 troy ounces, which puts the value of a single pip at $0.50. A full-lot position moves through a meaningful amount of account equity in an ordinary session, so size the trade against the instrument’s daily range rather than against the margin requirement.

XPT/USD FAQ
Where does the XPT/USD price on this page come from?
We do not show a XPT/USD price: there is no licensed data source for this asset class on the site yet, so the quote block says so instead of showing a number. It is for information only — use your broker's own prices before placing any trade.
What is a typical XPT/USD spread?
Spreads are set by each broker and vary by account type and time of day: they are tightest during the London and New York sessions and widen sharply around major data releases and in the thin hours after the New York close. Compare the live spread on each broker's own platform before you trade.
How much is one pip worth on XPT/USD?
On a standard contract of 50 troy ounces, one pip is worth $0.50, because XPT/USD is quoted in US dollars. Scale that down proportionally for mini and micro lots — a 0.01 lot position moves at one hundredth of that figure.
When can I trade XPT/USD?
Sun 23:00 – Fri 22:00 GMT, daily break 22:00–23:00. Liquidity is not evenly distributed across those hours: expect the tightest spreads and the largest ranges when the primary session for this instrument overlaps with London or New York.
What does the overnight swap cost on XPT/USD?
Swap rates are set by each broker and change with policy rates, so we do not publish a figure. Most brokers apply a triple charge on Wednesdays to cover the weekend; positive rates are credited and negative rates are debited. Check the contract specification on your broker's platform.
