Yes, if you rely on Expert Advisors or the enormous library of custom indicators built for it over two decades. That ecosystem is the reason it survives; nothing else about the platform is modern.
Only if you need the extra asset classes, the depth-of-market view or the faster strategy tester. MT5 is not backward compatible, so any EA you depend on must be rewritten in MQL5 before it will run.
The client is identical, but the server behind it is not. Execution speed, slippage and requote behaviour vary enormously between MT4 brokers — and none of it appears in a broker's published terms, so this page does not compare them. What it can show you is which brokers publish MT4 at all, and whether their own terms permit Expert Advisors.
Only with a VPS. Some brokers provide one free above a volume or balance threshold, which is worth more than a small spread difference if you run automated strategies — but VPS terms are not part of the records behind this page, so ask the broker directly.

Server-side execution speed and slippage — the things that actually differ between MT4 brokers — are not published by brokers and are not measured here.

Of the rest, 9 are on record and not yet confirmed on a register — the label beside each one says which. Each one links to the register entry. The 85 figures on this page beyond those registrations were transcribed from a page the broker publishes them on, and each one links to that page with the date somebody read it. Where a date is old, treat the figure as old — brokers change pricing and licences without telling us.
Pick an MT4 broker on execution and EA policy, never on the platform itself. If you do not use Expert Advisors, there is little reason to choose MT4 over a modern alternative.
